Established in October 1969, the school is located in
Hueilong District at the junction of Taipei and Taoyuan. It
was first named “Lunghwa Polytechnic” and consisted of four
departments: the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the
Department of Electrical Engineering, the Department of
Electronic Engineering, and the Department of Chemical
Engineering. In 1989, the school was renamed “Lunghwa
Junior College of Technology and Commerce” and the
Department of International Trade was added to meet the
social demand and train elites in international trade. In
1990, the Department of Electronic Data Handling was also
added, which was later renamed the Department of Information
Management. |

On
1 July 1998, the school was changed to “Lunghwa Institute of
Technology” and there were four colleges: Electrical
Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering
and Management and Information Management, which belong to
the two academic groups of technology and commerce. |

On
1 August 1999, six colleges were added including Mechanical
Engineering, International Trade, Finance and Banking,
Applied Foreign Languages and Business Administration, etc,
which belong to the four academic groups of technology,
commerce, humanity and applied living. |

At
present, it has approximately 200 full-time teachers and
7000 students. |
