The school was established in April 1987 as the Chang Gung
Medical College, and at that time had a mission of training
outstanding medical personnel. To meet the needs of the
country’s economic development, departments and graduate
schools of engineering and management were added to broaden
the instructional resources and turn out talented workers in
medicine, engineering, and management. As the school
already had three colleges in 1997, they applied to upgrade
to a university. After the verification by the Ministry of
Education, it formally became “Chang Gung University” in
July 1997. In the academic year of 2000, it had
approximately 380 full-time teachers and 3738 students. |

present, the school has three colleges and 20 schools and
departments including: |

College of Medicine:
School of Medicine, School of Traditional Chinese
Medicine, School of Nursing and graduate institute
(Master’s program), School of medical technology
(Laboratory Science and Radiological Technology
respectively), Department of Physical Therapy,
Department of Occupational Therapy, Department of
Respiratory Care, Graduate Institute of Basic
Medical Sciences (Master’s and Doctoral programs),
Graduate Institute of Clinical Medical Sciences
(Master’s and Doctoral programs), Graduate Institute
of Natural Products (Master’s program). |

College of Engineering:
There are the Department of Electronic Engineering,
Department of Mechanical Engineering and graduate
institute (Master’s program), Department of
Electrical Engineering and graduate institute
(Master’s and Doctoral programs), Department of
Chemical and Materials Engineering and graduate
institute (Master’s and Doctoral programs), and
Graduate Institute on Science of Semi-conductor
(Master’s program). |

College of Management:
There are the Department of Health Care Management
and graduate institute (Master’s program),
Department of Business Administration, Department of
Industrial Design, Department of Information
Management, Graduate Institute of Business
Administration (Master’s program). |
